About this appAI proposal
Pausemeter is a test bench and router for teams building voice agents. Replay your own recorded calls through cascaded speech-to-text, LLM and text-to-speech setups and through speech-to-speech models, and compare time to first audio, quality and cost side by side.
Builders in the material say answer latency matters most and that no single option fits: some setups are cheap but slow, others smart but too expensive. Pausemeter shows where each pause comes from, stage by stage, so the choice rests on your own calls.
Once you choose, a routing rule sends each call type to the setup that meets your latency budget at the lowest cost. Pausemeter does not train a model; it works with the providers you already use.

- Why this name
- A pause is what callers feel when a voice agent is slow, and the meter measures it. Two plain words joined, easy to say aloud.

Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Replay your real calls
Upload call audio or scripted turns and run them through any pipeline you connect, with identical inputs every time.

Stage-by-stage latency
See listening, reasoning and speaking time per turn, with median and slow-tail figures, so you know which stage to fix.

Cascaded vs speech-to-speech
Compare a cascaded setup with an end-to-end model on the same turns: time to first audio, cost per minute, quality score.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Users share comparison reports as links with teammates, clients and vendors who do not use Pausemeter. Each report shows the latency breakdown and carries the Pausemeter name.
- Do they become customers?
- Report viewers are often engineering leads or buyers who could sign up, but a one-time viewer may not. Test how many report links lead to a new account.
- First customers
- Small engineering teams of 3 to 15 people building phone-based voice agents for one vertical, such as appointment booking or support lines, where answer speed affects completed calls.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and developer forums: Post a public latency comparison method and invite readers to run it on their own calls.
- Voice-agent community chats: Offer free benchmark runs to builders who share their latency problems.
- Direct outreach: Contact founders of voice-agent startups in one vertical with a sample report on their public demo.
- First milestone
- Five teams in one vertical run weekly replays, and two pay for Team within 60 days.
Why people already pay for this
- Public claimBuilders of voice agents prioritize answer latency over other factors and find current speech-to-speech models insufficient
- Public claimGPT-5.4 is perceived as optimal for voice agent production use
- Public claimNewer models sacrifice cost efficiency
- Public claimThere is demand for improved speech-to-speech models with better latency

RisksAI inference
- PlatformProviders change models, prices and APIs often, so connectors need steady upkeep and benchmark results go stale quickly.
- CommercialTeams may run a one-off test and leave; the router and alerts must give a reason to stay subscribed.
- DataCall recordings may hold personal data. Customers will need retention limits, redaction and clear consent handling.
- TechnicalReplay from a test bench may not match live network latency, so figures could differ from production without live monitoring.
- CommercialThe evidence is public comments only; it does not show that teams would pay for a tool instead of building their own scripts.
