Desktop app: Spending cap management and incident review require monitoring dashboards, setting thresholds, and analyzing spike patterns—sustained analytical work done at a desk. Sample screens on a computer, in the proposed brand. Their numbers are sample data.

About this appAI proposal
Costfence sits beside the serverless platforms you already use and watches what they charge you. You set a monthly ceiling for each project. When spend nears it, you get an alert. When it reaches it, Costfence runs the action you chose: pause a function, switch off a route, or revoke a key.
It is built for solo developers and small teams who stay on free tiers, or split their apps across several hosts, because one bug or one leaked key could produce an unlimited bill. One dashboard covers several platforms, so a cap does not depend on each provider offering its own.
Costfence is a proposal. How well each platform's billing data and controls allow a real cap must be tested, and it will say plainly when a platform can only alert and not stop.

- Why this name
- A fence keeps something in bounds. Cost plus fence says what it does: it keeps your cloud bill inside a limit you set.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Hard cap per project
Set a monthly dollar ceiling per project or platform account. Reaching it triggers the shutoff you picked, not just an email.

Early alerts on pace, not only totals
Costfence compares today's spend rate to your cap and warns you when the month is on track to break it.

Automatic shutoff actions
Pause a function, disable a route, rotate a token or call your own webhook. Each action is tested in a dry run first.

One view across platforms
Connect several serverless hosts with read-only tokens and see spend side by side against each cap.

PricingAI proposal
Verified pricing pages show paid plans of $20 a month (Vercel) and from $25 a month (Supabase). The material gives no price for this kind of tool, so these tiers sit below them as a starting point to test.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Costfence is a background safety tool and produces nothing that others see. Customers come through content, developer communities and search, not through use of the product.
- Do they become customers?
- Reach comes from sales and content only. Test whether developers who now stay on free tiers or split across hosts will pay a monthly fee for a cap on a platform that lacks one.
- First customers
- Solo developers and two-to-five person teams running side projects or small SaaS on a serverless host without a native hard cap, who now stay on free tiers out of fear of a surprise bill.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and developer forums: Post a write-up on runaway serverless bills and join threads where developers describe cost fear, offering early access.
- Indie developer communities: Offer a free cap setup to makers on Discord and Reddit groups for one platform and ask for feedback.
- Search content: Publish guides on limiting spend on specific serverless platforms, each linking to a free connection.
- First milestone
- Ten developers on one uncapped platform connect it, and at least five pay for the Solo tier within 60 days.
Why people already pay for this
- Public claimSolo developers and companies avoid paid serverless plans due to fear of unlimited financial risk from code bugs or security breaches.
- Public claimCompeting platforms (Vercel, Supabase) have implemented hard spending caps in response to cost-related incidents.
- Public claimThe commenter pays for Resend.com for email API services, showing spending on specialized SaaS for features not covered by primary infrastructure platforms.
- Public claimDevelopers currently diversify across multiple platforms to limit financial exposure, indicating high perceived risk with any single provider's spending model.

RisksAI inference
- PlatformPlatforms may offer billing data with delay and few controls to stop usage. Costfence may be able only to alert on some, so a true hard cap could be late or unavailable.
- TechnicalShutoff actions need write-level tokens. A bug or a false positive could take down a working production service, so dry runs and clear confirmations are needed.
- CommercialVercel and Supabase now offer native caps, so demand may shrink for users of those hosts. The need must be confirmed on platforms without caps.
- DataStoring tokens for customers' infrastructure makes Costfence a security target. A breach would damage trust badly.
- CommercialUsers may expect Costfence to guarantee that bills never exceed a cap. Delays in platform billing data make that promise impossible to keep in all cases.
