Desktop app: Backend developers write and test SQL queries for hours, needing a full keyboard, multiple database views, and integration with their development workflow. Sample screens on a computer, in the proposed brand. Their numbers are sample data.

About this appAI proposal
Plainquery is a web workbench for Java teams who want to keep control of their SQL. Paste or write one query with optional filters, and see how it runs on each database you target: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle and others. Optional conditions drop out when a value is missing, so you do not write conditional blocks.
It checks pagination, shows where a query is likely to be slow, and exports the result as Java code and a regression test. Teams keep a shared library of reviewed queries, with notes on tenants and caching.
It is different from Hibernate-style mapping because the SQL stays visible and yours. It is different from XML-based mappers because dynamic conditions are declared in one place, not as nested if blocks. It works beside your current ORM, so adoption can be gradual.

- Why this name
- Plain words for the idea: ordinary SQL, kept readable, with no mapping layer hiding it. Easy to say and spell.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Optional conditions without if blocks
Mark a filter as optional once. Preview the final SQL for any mix of supplied and missing values.

What it could be worthEstimate
What a software business making this much sells for today, from real deals. Pick a monthly revenue.
If it makes
Worth about
$194,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Users invite others. A team shares a query library. Reviewers and colleagues are invited to comment on and approve queries, and each invited developer gets their own workspace.
- Do they become customers?
- Invited reviewers are working developers and can become paying users. What needs testing: whether reviewers create their own libraries or only comment once.
- First customers
- Backend teams of 5 to 30 Java developers who run one product on two or more database systems, such as software vendors with on-premise customers.
- Where to reach them
- Java communities: Post worked examples of dynamic-query pitfalls in Java forums and newsletters, with a free preview link.
- Open-source ORM users: Offer the free tier to users of existing SQL mappers through their issue trackers and discussions.
- First milestone
- Ten teams using the shared library weekly and three paying for Team within 90 days of launch.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialDevelopers may expect an open-source library in their build, not a web tool. A workbench alone may not be enough to pay for.
- TechnicalFaithful translation across dialects is hard. Wrong previews would destroy trust fast, so coverage must start narrow.
- DataTeams may refuse to paste production queries or schemas into a hosted tool; a local or schema-only mode may be needed.
- CommercialFree, mature ORMs already cover much of the need. The value claims in the material are public claims, not verified.
