About this appAI proposal
Smallroot hosts static sites for individuals and small teams. You pay for each site you run, not for an account with unlimited sites you will never fill. A blog, a docs site and a client landing page each get their own plan and their own bill.
Data transfer is the part people complain about, so it is shown plainly: every site has a monthly allowance, a clear rate beyond it, and a spending cap you set. The aim is a rate close to what large cloud providers charge, not many times higher.
Deploy from a Git push or a zip upload, attach a custom domain, and see traffic and cost per site. No agency features, no seat pricing, no surprise invoice at month end.

- Why this name
- Small sites start from a root and grow slowly. The name says the product is built for modest, growing sites and is easy to say and spell.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Per-site pricing
Each site is its own subscription. Pause or delete one and its charge stops. No annual fee for unlimited sites you do not use.

Transparent transfer rates
Every plan lists its included traffic and the exact price per extra GB, shown next to the site's live usage.

Spending cap per site
Set a hard monthly limit. At the limit the site serves a light fallback page, or stays up and alerts you. Your choice.

Git and zip deploys
Connect a repository to publish on push, or drop in a zip. Roll back to any earlier deploy in one tap.

PricingAI proposal
The material gives no per-site price. Verified: Statichost.eu lists a free plan and paid plans from €9 to €49 a month; a public claim cites €120/year for unlimited sites. These tiers are a starting point to test.

What it could be worthEstimate
What a software business making this much sells for today, from real deals. Pick a monthly revenue.
If it makes
Worth about
$194,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Sites show no required branding, so use does not spread by itself. A small optional badge on the free plan could be tested, but growth would mainly come from content and community posts.
- Do they become customers?
- Test whether a free-plan badge brings visitors who also run sites and sign up. Without that, reach comes only through search, forums and word of mouth.
- First customers
- Independent developers who run three to ten personal or client static sites with low traffic, and currently pay a flat account fee or manage their own cloud setup.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and developer forums: Post a transparent per-site price comparison and a worked example of transfer costs, inviting scrutiny.
- Static site generator communities: Offer migration guides and a one-command deploy for popular generators in their forums and docs.
- Indie developer newsletters: Sponsor or pitch a short note about per-site pricing with a spending cap.
- First milestone
- Twenty paying sites from ten different owners within 60 days, with at least three owners moving three or more sites each.
Why people already pay for this
- Public claimExisting static hosting services charge by account with unlimited sites rather than per site, and prices are too high for small users.
- Public claimStatic hosting services charge data transfer rates substantially higher than AWS, at roughly 10 times the per-gigabyte cost.
- VerifiedStatichost.eu's pricing page lists 2 paid plans, from €9 to €49 a month, plus a free plan
- Public claimStatichost.eu overage: 1 € per 10 GB extra data transfer (2026-10)

RisksAI inference
- CommercialMargins on cheap per-site plans may be thin. If transfer must match large cloud rates, small sites may not cover support and payment costs.
- CommercialLarge providers and free-tier hosts already serve small sites at no cost. Price-sensitive users may not switch for a few dollars saved.
- TechnicalRunning a reliable CDN, certificate issuance and builds is real operations work for a small team, and outages hurt trust fast.
- PlatformThe product depends on an upstream storage and CDN vendor whose price changes would directly change the margin.
- RegulatoryHosting user content brings abuse, takedown and data-location duties, especially for European customers.
