Desktop app: Contractors review dense project records, quality standards, and build appeals—detailed work requiring reading tables and dense information at a desk, not on the go. Sample screens on a computer, in the proposed brand. Their numbers are sample data.

About this appAI proposal
Footing helps people who do AI training work (RLHF, data annotation, moderation) keep control of their own record. You log each project, its status, its quality rules and the messages you received, in one place you own rather than one the project owner controls.
When a project ends or you are removed, Footing already holds your hours, scores, feedback and a dated timeline. You can build a clear appeal, export a work record to show the next project, and see how many weeks of income you have left.
It is for independent contractors who work across several projects and languages. It is not a job board run by the platforms. It sits on the worker's side, and the record travels with you.

- Why this name
- Footing means solid ground to stand on. It names what contractors lose when a project ends overnight, and what the product gives back.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
One view of every project
Add each project with pay rate, status, guidelines and contact. See what is active, paused or at risk in one list.

Notice and change log
Save emails and notices with dates. Footing flags changes in rules, pay or access so you can see what shifted before a removal.

Appeal builder
Turn logged hours, scores and messages into a short, dated appeal packet you can send, using a plain template.

Portable work record
Create a shareable record of projects, hours and quality marks. You choose what it shows and who can open the link.

What it could be worthEstimate
What a software business making this much sells for today, from real deals. Pick a monthly revenue.
If it makes
Worth about
$190,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Contractors send a work record link or an appeal packet to project managers, vendors or new projects. The recipient sees the Footing name and format on the page.
- Do they become customers?
- Recipients are mostly managers, not contractors, so they may not become payers. Test whether other contractors who see a record link sign up, and whether vendors ask for the format.
- First customers
- English and Spanish speaking freelance annotators and RLHF raters who work on two or more projects at once and have lost a project in the past year.
- Where to reach them
- Worker forums and subreddits: Offer a free runway calculator and appeal template in threads about removals, with a link to sign up.
- Hacker News and tech communities: Post a short write-up on keeping your own work record, and invite contractors to try it.
- First milestone
- Fifty free sign-ups who log three projects each, and ten paying Members within 60 days.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialEvidence is thin: one forum post with few comments. Contractors may not pay for a tracker, and many have little spare income.
- PlatformProject owners may reject a self-reported record. A work record is only useful if others trust it.
- RegulatoryContractor agreements often restrict sharing guidelines or project details. Users could breach confidentiality by saving or sharing them.
- CommercialWorkers are spread across many platforms and countries, so reaching them is hard and their needs differ.
- DataLogs hold sensitive pay and identity details, so storage and export need strict privacy handling.
