About this appAI proposal
Perihelion Bench is a shared analysis workspace for new-space teams. It gives you ready-made notebooks and calculation blocks for constellation coverage, orbit power budgets, mechanical sizing and operations planning, all running in the browser.
It is for engineers at satellite and spacecraft startups who need numerical work done without paying for a large general-purpose suite. You switch on the few modules your workflow uses instead of buying a catalogue of toolboxes.
Every analysis is versioned and shareable by link, so a teammate or customer can review a power budget or pass plan without installing anything. Long runs go to hosted compute, which you pay for only when used.

- Why this name
- Perihelion is the point of an orbit closest to the sun; bench is where engineers do hands-on work. Together: close, focused analysis.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Constellation coverage module
Define orbital planes and satellite counts, then see revisit time and ground coverage. Change one parameter and the result updates.
No member yet
Orbit power budget
Model solar generation, eclipse, battery cycling and loads per orbit. Negative margin is flagged before you commit to a design.
No member yet
Mechanical sizing blocks
Quick mass, stiffness and load-case calculations, with units checked on every line so mistakes show up early.
No member yet
Ops planning timeline
Turn pass predictions and power limits into a daily contact and task plan that operations can export.

PricingAI proposal
The material gives no MATLAB or other competitor prices. These tiers are a starting point to test against the complaint that MATLAB costs too much.

Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Engineers send live read-only analyses, such as a power budget or coverage report, to teammates, investors and customers. Each shared page carries the product name and a link to start a copy.
- Do they become customers?
- Viewers like customer engineers and reviewers may also be engineers who run analyses. Test whether viewers sign up and whether any move from free to paid seats.
- First customers
- Systems and power engineers at seed to Series B satellite startups with fewer than 50 staff, who currently use MATLAB for constellation and power analysis.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and engineering forums: Post worked examples of a constellation and power analysis, with notebooks readers can copy and run.
- Direct outreach: Contact engineering leads at small satellite companies and offer a free migration of one existing analysis.
- Space industry meetups: Demo the tool at small-satellite events and community groups for startup engineers.
- First milestone
- Five satellite startups each pay for at least two seats for 60 days after moving one real analysis off MATLAB.
Why people already pay for this
- Public claimMATLAB was used for satellite constellation analysis work but was rejected as too expensive and over-featured
- Public claimNew-space startups perform satellite constellation, mechanical, power, and operations analysis

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalEngineers may not trust new numerical results. Validating orbit and power models against known cases is slow and must come before any claim of accuracy.
- CommercialTeams have existing scripts and habits. Switching may need import tools, and the Hacker News signal is only a public claim from a few mentions.
- DataTeams may refuse to upload unreleased spacecraft designs to a hosted tool. Export controls may apply to some customers.
- CommercialFree open-source tools already cover much of this work, so the product must win on convenience and sharing rather than on math.
