About this appAI proposal
Plainpost is a text-only social network for people building an audience in writing. Posts, replies and reposts are unlimited, your feed is in time order, and every account gets post analytics and a verified badge from identity checks, not from a subscription.
The material shows creators on a text-only network paying $8 to $19.99 a month for unlimited posting, verification and analytics, and worrying that vague 'objectionable content' wording lets moderators ban people at will. Plainpost proposes to keep core creator tools free.
Moderation is written as a short list of specific rules. Every removal names the rule, shows the post, and can be appealed to a second reviewer. Money would come from optional extras such as themes and promoted posts, not from basics.

- Why this name
- A 'plainpost' is just text sent out with no tricks. The name says the product is words only, in order, with rules you can read.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Every post and profile has a public, readable link with a clean text card for sharing elsewhere. Readers who open it see the post and a prompt to follow or reply with a free account.
- Do they become customers?
- Readers can sign up free, and creators are the likely payers for extras. To test: what share of link visitors create accounts, and whether any creators pay for themes or promotion.
- First customers
- Independent writers and commentators with 500 to 5,000 followers on another text network who are unhappy with paid analytics or unclear bans.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and similar forums: Post the moderation rules and the free analytics comparison, and invite feedback from the people already criticizing paid tiers.
- Creator newsletters: Offer a handful of writers early access and a verified badge in return for moving their posts and giving feedback.
- Direct outreach: Message creators who have publicly complained about bans or fees and offer a migration import.
- First milestone
- 50 creators posting weekly for a month, and 10 of them paying for an optional extra.
Why people already pay for this
- AI inferenceExisting platforms charge for features like verified status and post analytics that many forums provide for free
- Public claimThe platform's content moderation language enables arbitrary banning of users for expressing disagreement or criticism
- AI inferenceThe platform charges $8-20 per month for core creator features

RisksAI inference
- CommercialA network needs readers and writers at once. Free core features mean little revenue until extras sell, and early creators may find no audience here.
- RegulatoryLimiting bans still requires removing illegal content and handling takedown notices. Rules must work across jurisdictions, and a poor balance invites legal or hosting trouble.
- CommercialEvidence on pricing and ban complaints comes from a public claim and AI inference, not verified data. Demand for a switch is unproven.
- TechnicalSpam and abuse are harder to handle with fewer moderator powers and no ranking, and may need costly tooling.
- DataVerified badges rely on identity checks, which bring privacy duties and the risk of false or impersonated accounts.
