About this appAI proposal
Allotta lets an engineering team of 5 to 15 people set a different AI usage allowance for each person. A CTO running long agentic coding sessions can get a large allowance while a new hire gets a small one. Everyone sits in one workspace with one invoice.
It works as a gateway for your team's AI API keys. Each person gets a personal key with a monthly budget, a warning level and a hard stop you choose. Admins see spend by person and project, and can move someone to another tier in seconds.
It is built for teams that now keep individual power-user accounts next to a shared team plan because the team plan offers only two seat sizes. Allotta replaces that split setup with one set of roles, sign-in and shared projects.

- Why this name
- Allotta is close to allot, which is what the product does: it hands each person a share. It is short, easy to say and does not describe a single AI vendor.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Custom tiers per seat
Define your own tiers, such as Light, Standard and Heavy, with monthly budgets. Assign one to each person and change it any time.

Personal keys with budgets
Each member gets their own key for CLI tools. Warning and hard-stop levels keep one person's runaway session from using the whole pool.

One bill, one workspace
Replace parallel individual accounts with one invoice and one member list. Spend is split by person, tier and project.

Role-based defaults
Set a tier by role so new CTOs, leads and interns start with the right allowance without an admin step.

PricingAI proposal
The material gives no price for Allotta or for the competitor's seats, only that its two seat types are 1.25x and 6.25x Pro usage. These tiers are a starting point to test. AI usage is billed by the provider.

From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Users invite others. An admin invites the team. Each member gets a personal key and sees their own usage. Members who move to another company or start a side team can set up their own workspace.
- Do they become customers?
- Invited members are already on engineering teams and some are CTOs or leads who can buy. Test whether invited members start workspaces at their next job, and how many reach paid seats.
- First customers
- Engineering teams of 5 to 15 people whose CTO or tech lead uses an AI coding CLI heavily and now keeps a separate individual account.
- Where to reach them
- The open GitHub issue: Reply in the 59-comment thread with a short demo to people who describe this exact split-account setup.
- Developer communities: Post a plain write-up of the per-seat budget setup in AI coding forums and engineering-leader groups.
- Direct outreach to CTOs: Message founders and CTOs of small engineering teams who talk publicly about their AI coding spend.
- First milestone
- Five teams of 5 to 15 people pay for at least a month, each with at least two seats on a higher tier.

RisksAI inference
- PlatformThe AI vendor could add per-seat custom tiers to its own team plan, or restrict how team members use API keys, which would remove the reason to use a gateway.
- CommercialSubscription-based CLI tools may not run through a third-party gateway. Allotta might only work for API-billed usage, which may not match how power users now pay.
- TechnicalA gateway sits in the request path of every call. Latency, outages and streaming errors would directly block engineers' work.
- DataTeams may hesitate to route code-related prompts through a third party. Allotta should log counts only and not store prompt content.
- Intellectual propertyThe name Allotta needs a trademark check before use, and the product must not imply it is endorsed by any AI vendor.
