About this appAI proposal
Tallybar collects token use, cost and rate-limit status from the AI coding tools you use and shows them in one place. You see today's spend, this month's pace and which tool is closest to its limit, without opening each dashboard.
It is made for developers who switch between several AI coding assistants, and for small teams who pay for more than one. Set a budget per tool, person or project, and get an alert before you go over, not a surprise on the monthly bill.
Unlike a single tool's own usage page, Tallybar compares tools side by side, so you can see which costs more for the work you actually do and decide where to spend.

- Why this name
- A tally is the old way of counting what is used. Tallybar suggests a running count and a budget bar in two plain syllables.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Users share a read-only monthly usage report with managers, finance or teammates. The page carries the Tallybar name and a prompt to start tracking.
- Do they become customers?
- Report viewers such as engineering leads may become team buyers, but a one-time viewer may not. Test how many shared report links lead to a sign-up.
- First customers
- Freelance developers and small engineering teams of 3 to 10 who pay for two or more AI coding tools and already worry about overages.
- Where to reach them
- GitHub: Publish a free open importer for log files and link to Tallybar for alerts and team views.
- Developer communities: Post real usage comparisons in AI coding forums and subreddits and invite readers to try the free tier.
- First milestone
- Fifty free sign-ups with two or more tools connected, and ten paying Pro or Team accounts within 60 days.

RisksAI inference
- PlatformTools may not offer usage APIs, or may change or close them. Some data may need manual log upload, which weakens the real-time promise.
- DataUsers must hand over API keys or usage logs. Secure storage and clear limits on what is read are needed to earn trust.
- CommercialAI tool vendors may add their own cross-tool or built-in usage dashboards, and free open-source trackers already exist.
- TechnicalCost figures may differ from vendor invoices because of pricing changes, caching and plan rules, so accuracy needs checking.
