About this appAI proposal
Plaincut turns a recording into a transcript you can edit like a document. Delete a sentence and the matching video or audio is cut. Remove filler words and long pauses in one pass, then export a clean file.
It is built for podcasters, YouTubers and small video teams who cut talking-heads, interviews and long recordings and do not want to scrub a timeline for hours. It runs in the browser as an installable app.
Unlike a full timeline suite, Plaincut keeps one job: fast spoken-word cleanup. Every automatic cut shows as a visible mark in the text, so you can review and undo it before export.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.

- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Creators publish episodes, clips and captions made in Plaincut. Shared review links let guests or editors check the transcript and cuts without an account.
- Do they become customers?
- Reviewers and guests may become users if they also make content; this is unproven. Test whether review-link visitors sign up, and whether free exports with a small credit convert.
- First customers
- Solo and small-team podcasters who publish weekly interview episodes of 30 to 90 minutes and edit them themselves.
- Where to reach them
- Podcaster communities: Offer free cleanup of one episode in podcasting forums and groups, and ask for feedback.
- Short demo videos: Post before and after cleanup clips on YouTube and TikTok showing minutes saved.
- First milestone
- Ten podcasters each finishing three episodes, and five of them paying for Creator.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialDescript is the dominant existing player in this category, so Plaincut must win on a narrow job and price, not on features.
- TechnicalBrowser export of long, high-resolution video may be slow or run out of memory on weaker devices.
- AITranscription errors, accents and overlapping speech can misplace cuts, so review tools must be strong.
- CommercialTranscription cost per hour could squeeze margin on the free and low tiers.
- Intellectual propertyThe GitHub project is a public claim of similar demand; its licence and any code reuse need checking.
