About this appAI proposal
Tallyfuel is a usage ledger and budget planner for teams that lean hard on AI code assistants. Connect your own API keys or import usage exports, and see tokens, spend and cap status per developer, per repo and per day in one place.
It answers what subscriptions leave vague: how much real work does a plan support before limits hit? Set a monthly budget, see a forecast of when you will run out, and get alerts before a cap slows the team down.
Tallyfuel does not resell tokens or replace your assistant. It sits beside it, so you can compare flat, capped and pay-per-token plans against your actual consumption and choose with numbers in hand.

- Why this name
- Tally is counting; fuel is what tokens are to a coding team. Together they say: count what you burn. Two plain words joined into one.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Cap-versus-price gap
Enter what you pay and the usable spend you actually get. Tallyfuel shows the gap per seat and across the team.

Burn forecast
Projects the day your budget or cap runs out from your last two weeks of use, so nobody is surprised mid-sprint.

Per-developer and per-repo view
Break tokens and spend down by person, repo and task type to find where heavy use really comes from.

PricingAI proposal
The material gives no price for this product. Tiers are a starting point to test. The only competitor figure is the claim of a $70 monthly usage cap on Copilot, which is unverified.

Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. It reaches customers through content, such as a public calculator comparing plan cost with real usage, and through direct outreach. Usage stays inside the team's own dashboard.
- Do they become customers?
- Calculator visitors could become signups, but that is untested. Test whether engineering leads who run the calculator will connect real usage data and pay.
- First customers
- Engineering leads at software teams of 5 to 30 developers who pay for several AI assistant seats and have hit caps or price increases.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News: Post a free plan-versus-usage calculator in threads on assistant pricing and caps.
- Engineering lead communities: Offer free spend audits to leads in developer Slack and Discord groups.
- First milestone
- Ten teams connect real usage data and five pay for Team within 60 days.
Why people already pay for this
- Public claimUsers subscribed to Copilot are capped to $70 per month of actual usage despite paying a subscription, following a recent price increase.
- Public claimDevelopment teams burning AI tokens at scales far exceeding what affordable subscription pricing allows.
- Public claimCurrent subscription pricing for AI assistants does not adequately reflect the token consumption of active developer workloads.

RisksAI inference
- DataAssistant vendors may not expose per-user usage through exports or APIs, which would limit tracking to manual import or key-based providers.
- CommercialEvidence is public claims only. Teams may switch tools rather than pay for a tracker, so demand for a tracking layer is untested.
- PlatformVendors can change export formats or terms at any time and break connectors.
- TechnicalStoring customers' API keys raises the security bar. A leak would end trust in the product.
