About this appAI proposal
Mendlink is a self-hosted proxy pair for long-distance links between data centers, offices and cloud regions. It treats packet loss as missing data to rebuild, not as a sign of congestion, so throughput holds up on lossy paths. Traffic moves over authenticated QUIC, with a TLS/TCP fallback where UDP is blocked.
The installable web console shows every tunnel in one place: loss, latency, recovered packets and throughput, on your phone or your desk. You add applications through SOCKS5, so existing infrastructure stays as it is. No appliance swap is needed.
It is for infrastructure and DevOps teams that run difficult links and want to avoid vendor lock-in. The data path runs on your own hosts. The console holds only settings and metrics.

- Why this name
- Mend means to repair what is broken, and link is the thing being fixed. It says what the product does in two plain syllables.

Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Loss treated as erasure
Lost packets are rebuilt from redundancy instead of triggering a slowdown. Tune the redundancy level per tunnel.

Authenticated QUIC transport
Peers verify each other before any traffic flows. Falls back to TLS over TCP when a network blocks UDP.
No member yet
SOCKS5 ingress
Point apps, browsers or build jobs at a local SOCKS5 port. No change to routes or application code.

Loss versus congestion view
Per-tunnel charts separate random loss from queue buildup, so you see which problem you actually have.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Mendlink reaches customers through content, open-source communities and direct sales. Tunnel endpoints sit inside private networks, so there is no visible user-facing surface that spreads the name.
- Do they become customers?
- Only direct outreach can convert buyers. Test whether engineers who benchmark a free tunnel pair will ask their team to pay for fleet features.
- First customers
- Platform and DevOps leads at mid-size companies running multi-region cloud or data center links with 1 to 5% packet loss, such as links to Asia, Africa or Latin America.
- Where to reach them
- Technical write-ups: Publish benchmark posts with reproducible before and after transfers on lossy long-distance links.
- Network and SRE communities: Offer free tunnel pairs in operator forums, mailing lists and the open-source repository's discussions.
- Direct outreach: Contact infrastructure leads at companies with offices or regions on difficult routes, and offer a two-week pilot.
- First milestone
- Five teams run a pilot on a real link, and three pay for the Team tier within 60 days.
Why people already pay for this
- VerifiedGitHub repository gained 414 stars in 66 days
- Public claimThe repository addresses WAN optimization for difficult long-haul links by treating packet loss as erasure rather than congestion, using authenticated QUIC transport with fallback and SOCKS5 ingress.
- AI inferenceThe project has attracted significant community interest, indicating demand for WAN optimization solutions.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalErasure coding adds overhead. On clean or purely congested links it may not help, and the gain from the approach is unproven on real customer paths.
- CommercialBuyers may accept open-source tools and balk at paying for a console. Willingness to pay for fleet management is untested.
- TechnicalUDP is blocked or throttled on many networks. The TCP fallback may give little benefit there.
- RegulatoryEncrypted tunnels across borders may meet export or local rules in some countries, and customers may need compliance assurances.
- Intellectual propertyThe idea builds on a public repository. Its license and any patents must be checked before we reuse or compete with its code.
