About this appAI proposal
Shelfline is a warehouse and stockroom app for healthcare facilities. It shows what is on each shelf, what is arriving, what is leaving for wards and clinics, and which lots expire soon. It runs in a phone browser and installs as a PWA, so staff can count and receive stock where the stock is.
It is made for store managers, pharmacy and supply staff, and small medical distributors who need clear stock visibility without a long enterprise rollout. Setup starts from a spreadsheet of items and locations, and a first receiving can happen the same day.
Unlike a self-hosted open-source system, Shelfline is hosted and maintained for you. You do not run servers or apply updates. Scanning, offline counts and simple reports are part of the base product.

- Why this name
- A shelf line is the row where stock sits and the line of sight along it. Two plain words joined, easy to say and spell.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Receive and put away
Log incoming shipments against a purchase order, record lot and expiry, and assign a shelf location in a few taps.

Stock movement ledger
Every receipt, transfer, issue and adjustment is recorded with who, when and where, so any count can be traced.

Expiry watch
See lots that expire in 30, 60 or 90 days and move them first. Alerts go to email.

Offline counts
Do cycle counts and receiving without signal in a basement store. Changes sync once the phone is back online.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Outbound shipment status links and ward request confirmations go to recipients at other sites and departments who do not use Shelfline. The page carries the sender's facility name and a small Shelfline mark.
- Do they become customers?
- Recipients see the product but may not buy it. A receiving store at a partner site could become a customer; test how many shipment links lead to sign-ups.
- First customers
- Small medical supply distributors and independent clinics with one or two stockrooms, run by a store or supply manager who tracks stock in spreadsheets.
- Where to reach them
- OpenBoxes community: Join the project's discussions and issues to find teams who want hosted setup or better mobile use.
- LinkedIn outreach: Message supply chain and store managers at small clinics and distributors, offering a free setup from their spreadsheet.
- Healthcare logistics groups: Share short guides on expiry control and cycle counts in supply chain forums and groups.
- First milestone
- Five paying facilities in one segment, such as small distributors, each running live receiving and shipments for 30 days.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialOpenBoxes is open source and has a free plan, so buyers may not pay for a hosted alternative unless setup speed and mobile use are clearly better.
- RegulatoryHospitals may require medicine traceability, controlled-drug records or data hosting rules that differ by country and are not covered in a first version.
- TechnicalOffline sync with several users counting the same location can create conflicts that must be resolved without losing movements.
- DataFacilities hold item lists and stock data in spreadsheets or older systems; messy imports could slow onboarding.
- PlatformCamera scanning in mobile browsers varies by device and may be slower than dedicated handheld scanners.
