Desktop app: Engineering teams inspect webhook delivery logs, configure retries, and replay events—dense technical work best done on larger screens with keyboard. Sample screens on a computer, in the proposed brand. Their numbers are sample data.

About this appAI proposal
Catchwell sits between webhook providers and your app. It gives you one endpoint to register with Stripe, Shopify and others. It stores every event on arrival, delivers it to your app, retries on failure, and holds what can't be delivered until you replay it.
It is for engineering teams who take payments or run e-commerce and are tired of rebuilding retry logic, dead letter queues and monitoring for each deployment. You see a failure when it happens, not hours later.
Unlike the provider's own retry policy, Catchwell keeps its own copy of each event and can compare it with the provider's records, so gaps show up and can be replayed.

- Why this name
- A well catches and holds what falls in, and it keeps water available when you need it. Catchwell does the same for events: it catches them, holds them safely and hands them over.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
One intake endpoint per provider
Point Stripe or Shopify at a Catchwell URL. Signatures are checked and each event is stored before anything else happens.

Configurable retries
Set backoff, retry window and timeouts per destination. Your app can be down for a deploy without losing events.
No member yet
Dead letter inbox
Events that exhaust retries wait in a readable inbox with the error, the payload and a one-click replay.

Failure alerts in minutes
Get notified by email or webhook when delivery rates drop or an endpoint keeps failing.

PricingAI proposal
The material gives no webhook-service prices. Stripe lists one usage-based paid plan and Shopify plans from RON 99 to 1,460 a month; these USD tiers are a starting point to test, not derived from them.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Catchwell runs behind the scenes between providers and customer apps. Nobody outside the engineering team sees it, so growth comes from content, docs, search and direct outreach.
- Do they become customers?
- Reach is limited to people who search for webhook fixes. Test whether engineers who find a guide or open-source replay tool will sign up and pay within a month.
- First customers
- Engineering leads at small e-commerce and SaaS companies, 5 to 30 engineers, that take Stripe payments or run Shopify apps and have lost webhook events before.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and developer forums: Answer webhook failure threads and publish a write-up on missed-event patterns, linking to a free tier.
- Shopify app developer communities: Offer free setup help to app builders who depend on order and refund webhooks.
- Direct outreach: Message engineering leads at Stripe-heavy startups with a free reconciliation report of their last 24 hours.
- First milestone
- Five paying teams in one vertical, such as Shopify app developers, each routing live production webhooks within eight weeks.
Why people already pay for this
- VerifiedStripe's pricing page lists 1 paid plan, at RON 1.50 by usage, plus prices on request for larger customers
- Public claimStripe states on its own website: Handles 250 million+ API requests a day
- VerifiedHacker News post received 14 points and 11 comments

- This app · Event queue and schedulerDurable job queue with delayed retriesRetries with backoff and replay need reliable scheduling beyond what Postgres polling handles at higher volume.
- This app · Event storageAppend-only event store with retention rulesPayloads must be saved on arrival and expire by plan; high write volume may outgrow plain tables.
RisksAI inference
- TechnicalCatchwell becomes a single point of failure. If intake goes down, events are lost, so uptime and fast, durable writes must exceed what teams build themselves.
- CommercialMany teams already built their own retry logic and may see switching as low value. Demand beyond the Hacker News thread is unproven.
- PlatformStripe and Shopify can change event formats, signing or retry behaviour, and reconciliation depends on their APIs and rate limits.
- DataPayloads hold payment and customer data. Storing them brings security duties, retention limits and customer trust questions.
- CommercialPer-event pricing must stay below the cost of an in-house fix while covering storage and retries at volume.
