About this appAI proposal
Dovegate is a REST gateway for sending and receiving WhatsApp messages from your own apps, bots and automations. Run it on your server with one Docker command, or let us host it. A web dashboard shows each connected number, its session health and every webhook delivery.
It is for developers and small teams who find the official Business API costly or slow to set up and do not want to pay a third-party platform. Dovegate connects through a WhatsApp Web session, which is an unofficial route. The dashboard says so and shows the risks.
The difference from a bare open-source library is the daily work around it: reconnect alerts, retried webhooks, message logs, per-number API keys and team logins. You keep your data and your server, and you can leave at any time.

- Why this name
- A dove carries messages and a gate is something you control. Together they say: messages pass through a door you own. Two plain syllables, easy to say.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
One-command deploy
Start the gateway with one Docker command, then pair a number by scanning a QR code in the dashboard. No approval process.

Session health monitor
See which numbers are connected, reconnecting or logged out. Get an email or webhook alert when a session drops.

Webhooks that retry
Incoming messages and delivery status go to your URL. Failed calls retry with backoff, and you can replay any event.

What it could be worthEstimate
What a software business making this much sells for today, from real deals. Pick a monthly revenue.
If it makes
Worth about
$190,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Reach comes through developer content, docs, the free self-hosted image and GitHub-style communities. Messages sent to end users carry no Dovegate branding, so use does not spread by itself.
- Do they become customers?
- Free self-host users can upgrade to the panel or hosting. To test: what share of self-host installs with 2 or more numbers pay for alerts and logs within 60 days.
- First customers
- Freelance developers and small agencies running WhatsApp bots or notifications for 3 to 20 small business clients.
- Where to reach them
- Open-source communities: Post a deploy guide and a comparison of self-host setups in WhatsApp automation and n8n-style forums and GitHub discussions.
- Tutorial content: Publish short guides: order alerts, support bot, appointment reminders, each using the free image with a link to the panel.
- Direct outreach to agencies: Message agencies that list WhatsApp automation as a service and offer a free month of Hosted.
- First milestone
- Ten paying agencies or developers on Team panel or Hosted within 90 days of launching the free image.

RisksAI inference
- PlatformThe gateway uses WhatsApp Web, not the official API. This may breach WhatsApp's terms and numbers can be banned or sessions broken by protocol changes without notice.
- CommercialThe core library is free and open source. Buyers must see enough value in monitoring, hosting and support to pay, when they could self-run for nothing.
- TechnicalUpstream WPPConnect breakage forces fast fixes. The team depends on a library it does not control and must keep up with each change.
- RegulatoryHosting message content for customers brings privacy duties, and bulk or unsolicited messaging by users could cause abuse complaints.
- Intellectual propertyOpen-source licence terms of the base library must be checked before building a paid product on it. The name Dovegate needs a trademark check.
