About this appAI proposal
Dryrun makes a throwaway copy of a WordPress site, applies the pending plugin, theme and core updates to the copy, and checks that the important pages still work. You see a plain pass or fail report before anything touches the live site.
It is made for freelancers, small agencies and owners who look after a handful of WordPress sites and now do this by hand with manual staging or the built-in tools. Dryrun turns that routine into one scheduled, repeatable run with page checks and screenshots.
When every check is green, you promote the update with one tap, and you can roll back from the same screen. When one fails, you see which update caused it.

- Why this name
- A dry run is what you do before the real thing. 'Dryrun' says it in one plain word and suits cautious site owners.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Update on a copy first
Clone the site to a temporary copy and apply pending core, plugin and theme updates there, never on the live site.

Page checks that matter
Pick key pages such as home, checkout and contact form. Dryrun loads each one before and after and flags errors and layout changes.

Before and after screenshots
See side-by-side images of each checked page so a broken layout is obvious without clicking around.

Find the update that broke it
Updates are applied one at a time when a run fails, so the report names the plugin or theme at fault.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Each run produces a shareable report link that agencies send to clients showing what was updated and tested. The page carries a small 'Checked with Dryrun' footer that can be removed on higher tiers.
- Do they become customers?
- Clients who open a report are site owners who may hire an agency using it, but may not manage sites themselves. Test whether any click through and sign up, or whether it only builds agency trust.
- First customers
- Freelance WordPress maintenance providers who look after 5 to 30 client sites and currently test updates by hand on manual staging copies.
- Where to reach them
- WordPress maintenance communities: Offer free first runs in freelancer forums and groups, asking for feedback on which checks they lack.
- Content on update breakages: Publish guides on testing plugin updates safely, ending in a free trial.
- Direct outreach to care-plan sellers: Message freelancers who list monthly care plans and offer a month free on their own sites.
- First milestone
- Ten freelancers each paying for the Studio tier for two billing months, with at least half running scheduled tests weekly.
Why people already pay for this
- VerifiedA business in this market sold on Empire Flippers averages $3,924 a month in revenue ($2,847 net profit, $3,549 recurring), figures vetted by the broker

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalCloning sites with large databases, custom hosting setups or caching layers reliably is hard, and a copy that behaves differently from live gives false confidence.
- CommercialMany hosts and WordPress tools already offer staging, so users may see a separate subscription as unnecessary. The material names no competitors to compare against.
- PlatformAccess to client sites needs a connector plugin or credentials. Some hosts restrict this, and agencies may balk at granting it.
- DataCopies contain customer and order data, which brings privacy duties. Copies need to be masked or short-lived and securely deleted.
- AIVisual comparison may flag harmless changes such as rotating banners, causing noisy alerts unless users can mask regions.
