ScreensConcept
Desktop and mobile: Teams write and check YAML workflows at desks, but need to monitor runs and retry failed steps from phones during active deployments. Sample screens on a computer and a phone, in the proposed brand. Their numbers are sample data.

About this appAI proposal
Plainrun is a control room for small teams whose real job is not orchestration. You write workflows as short YAML files that chain scripts, SSH commands and container tasks. A small agent on your own machine runs them, and a phone-friendly web app shows what happened.
It is for teams that outgrew cron but do not want a heavy orchestrator with its own database and scheduler. The agent is one light process on hardware you already have. Workflow files stay apart from your business code, so they are easy to review and move.
What is different: every run, step and log is in one place, you get an alert when something fails, and you can retry a single step from your phone. Low resource use and mixed execution types are the two things this design is built around.

- Why this name
- Plain says no heavy setup; run says what it does. Two ordinary words, easy to say and spell.

Workflows in plain YAML
Define steps, order, retries and schedules in a short file. Keep it in git, apart from application code.

Scripts, SSH and containers together
One workflow can run a local script, a command on a remote host over SSH, then a container task.

Light agent on your hardware
One small agent runs jobs on your own servers. Your scripts and secrets stay where they are.

Run history at a glance
See each run, step timing and log in a timeline. Find what failed and when without reading server files.

From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Plainrun reaches customers through content, open workflow examples and community posts. Run pages stay inside the team, so use does not by itself bring new people.
- Do they become customers?
- Teammates invited to view runs may become buyers only if they run their own agents. Test whether invited on-call engineers start their own workspace within 30 days.
- First customers
- Small software or agency teams of 3 to 15 people who run cron jobs and shell scripts on a few servers and have no dedicated infrastructure person.
- Where to reach them
- Self-hosting communities: Share example YAML workflows for backups and deploys in forums and subreddits where cron pain is discussed.
- Open-source repository issues: Offer the dashboard to people asking for run history or alerts in related orchestration projects.
- Technical blog posts: Publish guides on moving from cron to workflows on one small server.
- First milestone
- Ten teams run a real workflow for four weeks, and five of them pay for the Team tier.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialTeams drawn to a self-hosted, no-database tool may refuse a hosted dashboard. The pitch must show that the dashboard adds value without taking over their jobs.
- TechnicalThe agent must run across varied hosts, run containers and SSH safely, and keep working when its connection drops. This is the hardest part to get right.
- DataLogs and run output can include secrets. Redaction and a clear policy on what leaves the customer's machine are needed before trust.
- CommercialThe GitHub interest in the signal is for an open-source tool. Free alternatives may satisfy many teams, so paying demand is unproven.
- PlatformPWA push notifications are less reliable on some phones, so alerts need an email fallback.
